09:00 – Hotel Pickup Meet your guide and driver at your hotel lobby to begin your journey along the historic Georgian Military Highway. As we head north toward the Great Caucasus Mountains, you will see the landscape shift from urban cityscapes to lush green valleys and turquoise waters.
10:00 – Ananuri Fortress & Zhinvali Reservoir Our first stop is the stunning Ananuri Fortress, a 17th-century architectural complex that served as a strategic stronghold for the Dukes of Aragvi. You can explore the ancient stone churches and defensive towers while enjoying a breathtaking view of the turquoise Zhinvali Reservoir below.
12:00 – Gudauri: Friendship Monument & Panoramic Views We continue our ascent to the mountain resort of Gudauri. We will stop at the iconic “Treaty of Georgievsk” Monument (Friendship Monument), perched on the edge of a deep gorge. Specifically, you will have the opportunity to take panoramic photos of the Devil’s Valley and the surrounding snow-capped peaks.
14:30 – Stepantsminda (Kazbegi) We arrive in the town of Stepantsminda, located at the foot of Mount Kazbek. From here, we will switch to a 4WD vehicle for a thrilling drive up the mountain slopes. The rugged terrain and fresh mountain air set the stage for one of the most famous sights in the country.
15:15 – Gergeti Trinity Church The highlight of the journey is the 14th-century Gergeti Trinity Church, situated at an altitude of 2,170 meters. Furthermore, if the weather is clear, you will have a spectacular, unobstructed view of Mount Kazbek (5,047m), one of the highest peaks in the Caucasus.
17:30 – Departure for Tbilisi Ultimately, we begin our scenic drive back to the capital. You will have a final chance to admire the mountain passes and the “confluence of two rivers” before arriving safely at your hotel.
